Trailtrek Frequently Asked Questions

What sort of vehicles do you convert or fit out?
We work a wide range of light goods vehicles (vans), pick ups, 4 x 4's and even estate cars. All of which we can convert and fit out for animal welfare work. We also build box bodies onto chassis cabs for those requiring larger interiors and have specialist experience in building light weight fifth wheel trailers.

Can you supply the vehicle or is it cheaper for us to buy?
Yes, we most certainly can supply the vehicle and because of our purchasing power we can offer exceptionally good prices.

Will you fit out an existing vehicle we already own?
Yes, if you already have a vehicle or wish to buy your own we are happy to fit it out for you

Can you design the external graphics for us?
Yes. If you brief us we can prepare creative designs and arrange a full vinyl wrap of the vehicle or less elaborate graphics

How long does it take to supply and build an Animal Welfare Vehicle to our requirements?
Delivery times will vary depending upon the availability of the particular vehicle you have chosen. But normally we can supply within as little as 3 to 4 weeks up to a maximum of 12 weeks.

Is it true that some vans available from more than one manufacturer are in fact identical?
Yes this is so in a number of cases.

If I buy an Animal Ambulance do I still have to pay the full annual Road Fund Tax?
If you purchase an Animal Ambulance your vehicle will in most cases be exempt from the annual Road Fund Duty. So a nice little saving!

What happens when we no longer want the vehicle or we want to make a change?
We are always willing to buy back or part exchange our vehicles. We have many clients on restricted budgets who are looking to buy used animal Welfare Vehicles.

We do not want the standard interior designs that we have seen and really need something very special for our needs. Can you still help?
We are more than happy to design vehicles to suit individual needs. We fully appreciate the wide diversity of animals and support that needs to be provided. So we can design anything you may want.

We are uncertain about Driving Licence requirements, can you advise?
Now that Driving Licences have in general been brought into line with the EU Regulations there are more restrictions than in years gone by. However most drivers will be entitled to drive most of the vehicles we produce, but certainly we can advise on individual basis. In particular it is those who have passed their driving test after January 1997 who have the least entitlements.

We have read about the introduction of Digital Tachographs and wonder if these will apply to us?
It is important to be aware of new regulations but you will be pleased to know that virtually all of our vehicles are exempt from the need to install Digital Tachographs due to their light weight. Where they are required we will bring this to the attention of our client during the proposal stage. In general though you should not allow any of your staff to exceed the driving hours that apply to those governed by Tachograph Regulations.

We are thinking of changing our saloon cars for a fleet of Animal Ambulances and Animal transporters. Will we need an Operators Licence?
Almost certainly not. You will only require an Operators Licence if you purchase vehicles with a kerb weight in excess of 3500 kgs and none of our animal ambulances and animal transporters exceed this weight. If you have other vehicles on your fleet these may not of course be exempt.
